License Renewal Application

• At this time, you can renew your license so that is stays "Current", and you can practice social work in Nevada. You have a 45 day renewal window for your renewal based on your birthday month. NEVADA HAS NO GRACE PERIOD FOR RENEWALS - If your license becomes delinquent or expires, you may NOT practice social work until the license has been renewed or restored.
• If you are sixty (60) or older and are no longer practicing social work, you can "Retire" your license. You will pay your renewal fees but will only have to do the Continuing Education Units (CEUs) that are mandated by the Nevada Legislature (if this is your collection cycle year) - 2.00 in suicide prevention and 6.00 in cultural diversity, equity or inclusion. Your license remains "Current". If you return to the practice of social work, on your next renewal, you will notify us that you are no longer "retired" and you will be responsible for all CEU requirements on your next collection cycle.
• If you wish to stop your practice in Nevada temporarily, you can place your license on "Inactive" status. You will not be able to practice in Nevada while on "Inactive" status. Once Inactivated, you will have up to five (5) years to re-activate your license. If you do not, it will automatically expire on the fifth year renewal. While in "Inactive" status, you will be removed from the board listserv and will receive no communication from the board regarding your license. If you wish to re-activate your license, you will need to contact the board for instructions on how to do so. Re-activation will require one collection cycle's worth of CEUs, a new background check and one year of renewal fees. Do not place your license on "Inactive" status if you currently have an open investigation pending against you in any state.

Your renewal period begins on the 15th of the month preceding your expiration. You will not be allowed to renew earlier than that date. Completed renewal applications and fees must be received by the last day of your birth month to be considered timely. If you owe Continuing Education Units (CEUs) with this renewal please allow at least 7 days for review, do not wait until the last day of your birth month to renew.

If you fail to renew your license will be placed in "delinquent" status and you will have 60 days to make your license current. A late fee will be assessed for all licenses that are in "delinquent" status. Your license will be expired on the 61st day from the expiration date.

• $125.00 for Social Worker (LSW) or Associate in Social Work (LASW)
• $187.50 for Clinical (LCSW) and Independent (LISW)
